Research

Synaptic vesicle exocytosis is a fundamental intercellular communication process in living systems.Understanding this dynamic process would be of great value to recognize the nature of short-term memory and find ways to cure neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease. My general research purpose is to combine nanoelectrochemical methods with stimulated emission depletion (STED) super-resolution microscopy and apply to dynamically study vesicle structure, opening, and exocytosis. I aim to use my background in electrochemical and optical sensing to develop the approach to understand the change, dynamic, function and molecular mechanism of exocytosis at sub-vesicle resolution.
