Title: Electrochemical sensors for insulin detection at single cells
The scholarship holder will work on a project to develop new sensor strategies to quantify insulin in small amounts during exocytosis and to test the hypothesis that insulin release via exocytosis is also partial. The scholarship holder will begin by learning the basic electrochemical methods associated with very small electrodes. The holder will then move to development of surface chemistry to oxidize insulin. The holder ill then learn measurements at cells and begin to test the new electrodes. Finally, we aim to carry out exocytosis experiments to test the partial release hypothesis.“
