Research

My research is mainly focused on fundamental investigation of exocytosis. We are using PC12 cells, a dopamine secreting cell line from the Adrenal Medulla of rats.
In collaboration with Jun Wang, we are working on development of a ultra thin film microelectrode array that can monitor exocytosis at 16 different channels from a single cell (MEA). The ultra thin film electrodes also allows microscopic technique such as Calcium Imaging to be conducted simultaneously with the electrochemical measurements. This powerful combination of techniques can be used to correlate the intracellular Calcium concentration with sites of release. In that way we are able to probe for Hot versus Cold spots of exocytosis across the cell surface.
